Reneth OliverReneth Oliver’s paintings reveal a natural talent that instinctively caught the artful eye of others quite early in his life. Throughout his high school & college years, Reneth was encouraged by his parents, art teachers and friends to pursue a career in the visual arts.
Since that time, Reneth has become an internationally recognized artist, never more so than in his native country of Belize. His original paintings have been critically acclaimed and purchased by private collectors and high-end galleries. Reneth's work has also been featured in numerous calendars, and his pen & ink drawings continue attracting mass audiences. He has been commissioned for private collections, such as a series of ink drawings of historical out houses of the 20's in Belize. Reneth’s customers range from diplomats and ambassadors to prime ministers and private clients.
In 1990, Reneth's talent attracted the attention of the now current prime minister of Belize, who back then, appointed him as a director on the National Arts Council Board. Reneth also served as judge for a major national poster competition, aimed at fighting drug abuse in Belize.
As gifted technically as he is creatively, Reneth enjoys working in various mediums such as pen & ink, oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastels. He loves bright, glorious colors and his most recent digital pieces are truly an “eyefest” – bursting with brilliant colors!
“I enjoy exploring every aspect of life from the fantastically intangible to the excruciatingly real,” says Oliver. "It's like total intimacy with my subjects, whether it's the details of the bulging veins in a work-worn hand or the veins of a leaf, or the texture in a lock of hair – for a moment, I identify with every nuance of stroke it takes to make the whole."
Through his insatiable curiosity of all things creative – from the incredibly imaginative to the most mundane things of the everyday world around him – Reneth’s work touches the soul of his viewers, across all artistic tastes, preferences and sensibilities. He reaches his own soul satisfaction through accessing his wide emotional palate and by translating his mind and moods into individual (yet universal) expressions of his own experiences, dreams and fantasies.
"My feel for the work changes with the second hand on the clock, and I am constantly searching for something new,” says Oliver. “I am restless and tireless in my quest to create things never before seen or imagined!
